Reentry Permit

If a Green Card holder stays abroad for more than six months, it raises questions about their intent to reside in the United States.

Moreover, if they remain outside the U.S. for more than one year continuously, it is considered that they have abandoned their Green Card.

Therefore, if you plan to stay abroad for more than six months, it is advisable to apply for a Reentry Permit.

With a Reentry Permit, you can stay overseas for up to two years without losing your Green Card. (You can still travel in and out of the U.S. during this period.)
